OUR VIEW: Ocean planning makes good sense

Massachusetts Ocean Day

Massachusetts Ocean Day was held on Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the
Massachusetts State House in Boston. Thanks to all for making the event a great success!

Hosted by Senator Robert O’Leary, cosponsor of the Massachusetts Ocean Act, Massachusetts Ocean Day showcased the Bay State’s ocean heritage and how better management will help protect our coastal and ocean resources.  Exhibiting organizations provided information on ocean issues, research and education. A keynote talk was given by Mr. Leon Panetta of the Joint Ocean Commission Initiative. Mr. Panetta, former White House Chief of Staff to President Clinton and Congressman from
California, also served as chair of the Pew
Oceans Commission.
